Recovery and Mental Coaching for Athletes
Athletes push their bodies and minds to the limit, yet recovery is too often treated as an afterthought. At Praktijk54, we see recovery as the other half of performance: the work that decides whether an athlete returns stronger or returns broken. Our recovery and mental coaching practice helps athletes in the Netherlands recover faster from setbacks and perform with a clearer, calmer mind.
Why mental coaching matters for athletes
Physical training builds the body, but the mind decides what the body can do under pressure. Mental coaching gives athletes practical tools to manage competition stress, rebuild confidence after injury, sharpen focus during decisive moments, and let go of the fear of failing again. It is not vague motivation; it is structured work on attention, self-talk, and emotional regulation that translates directly into how an athlete trains and competes.
Body-based recovery and root-cause work
Many recurring problems, stubborn pain, chronic tension, and performance blocks, do not start where the symptom appears. Our body-based recovery sessions look for the root cause rather than masking the complaint. By working with the nervous system, breath, and movement, we help the body return to a state of coherence where healing can happen on its own. The goal is durable recovery, not a temporary fix.
Who benefits and what to expect
We work with athletes across disciplines who want to recover faster and perform stronger: riders, runners, team-sport players, and anyone whose body and focus carry their ambitions. A first conversation is a free ten-minute check-in call to understand where you are and what you need. From there, every session is built around you, combining mental coaching and body-based recovery so that your mind and body move in the same direction.
